... likeminded Christ-following communities seeking to bring spiritual formation resources to our distinct geographic regions. In the context of community, we gather spiritual directors and other soul care practitioners for the purpose of encouragement and taking care of one's own soul. We also collaborate and encourage one another in this mission.
Currently, we have Spiritual Formation Societies (SFS) in Arizona, Arkansas, Texas, and Washington. See below for links to those SFS communities. In addition, there is a group in one other area praying and discerning if God is leading them to offer a Spiritual Formation Society in their area.
... started in 2024 and is a ministry of the Spiritual Formation Society of Arizona, which started in 2013. The SFS comes out of the desire for connection, encouragement, and empowerment of groups in other areas beyond Arizona.
Encourage, equip, and empower those who are interested to start SFSs in their local area. As communities are established, the work transitions to one of accountability, prayer, and collaboration.
Prayerful discernment and relational connection are at the center of the how and the what of Spiritual Formation Society.

Our app is based off the traditional monastic practice of scripture reading, meditation, and prayer. It’s been practiced by some of the earliest church mothers and fathers, reformers, puritans, and modern-day Christ-followers of all streams, Protestant, Catholic and Orthodox alike.
These ancient practices of prayer are not an exegetical or theological analysis of scripture, and are not meant to replace your devotional or bible study. Rather, A Simple Pause app should be a supplement to your daily rhythm. Think of it as a refreshing sip of time with Jesus in the midst of an ordinary day. We trust it will make your relationship with God richer.
